A while back I saw an ad for Fit Flops. They promised to tone my butt and activate my stabilizer muscles to tone my calves and thighs so I could have sleek looking legs. All without going to the gym. I decided to try em out. They set me back $70 plus tax. (that's in Canadian dollars). I wore them 4 days a week, minimum, at work. I work a 7.5 hour day. Most of it on my feet.
The sandals are very comfortable. I had no back, foot or leg achiness due to standing. Which is an improvement over my normal day. I did get some leg tiredness. Which is to be expected as the sandals are supposed to be working out your leg muscles.
I measured my calves, thighs and butt before and after a 6 week period. calves shrunk by 0.25 inches. Thigh stayed the same and butt was down 0.75 inches. My weight has dropped by 1lb. This could be due to the sandals, I suppose, or it could be due to the fact that now that the weather has improved, I am walking more. Or a combination of it.
So, these sandals are no miracle shoe. They ARE very comfortable and MAY help tone your legs. Whether that's worth the $70 to you is your choice.
I was not asked by the company to do this review, nor have I recieved any compensation for the review.

Please Ensure You Have All Your Belongings...
As you disembark, cause Trainknit is DONE!
I used the edging yarn for the lacing up the back, but I think I am going to buy a really narrow white ribbon for it. The yarn looks too insubstantial.
Otherwise I'm pretty happy with it. I think if I made it again, I'd make it shorter. As in less wide. My bust is a 38, so I figured with my arms in it, the wrap should be fairly snug if I knit it to 38". It's okay, but I wouldn't mind it being a tad snugger.
I actually think I might knit this again. It would make a good little gift for my hairstylist, for example....

Wing It
I'm working on a cardigan that I am doing completely out of my head. Well, sort of. My colleague had a sweater I quite liked the shape of. So I peeled it off her body one day at work and measured it up and came up with a 'pattern'. Doesn't look like much right now
Eventually it is supposed to be one of those cardigans with the long points that drop down in the front. I'm using bamboo yarn and I must say it is lovely and soft. If a bit splitty. And I may go blind from picking up stitches in black dk yarn. But the knit is looking nice, I think, Won't be able to tell for sure till I have knit on the neckband.
Ciao

Train Knit
I went to Toronto's Knitter's Frolic last weekend. I needed a knit for the train and I didn't feel like knitting socks. So...Amanda..
The colour is true-er in the second picture, but the first shows the holey-ness better.
I'm calling it "Trainknit". Creative, huh?

Found It!
When we first moved into this place 13 years ago, we designated one spare bedroom as the storage room. You know, the place to keep Christmas decorations etc. Stuff you need, but don't use all the time. Uh huh. That room got turned into the dumping ground. Gotta hide something before a surprise guest drops in? Throw it in there. Yup. What a disorganized mess it was. Hubby and I have been going through it slowly. We have a 2 garbage bag limit for garbage pickup here, so our modus operandi was to go through stuff until we filled one garbage bag. Then we'd stop. Until the following week.
Among the trash, I found a treasure! Last summer I was working on a scarf. A very nice scarf. With lovely, silky yarn. And it got eaten by our dumping ground room. I have found it! YAY!

Cleaning up does have it's rewards.
As a sidenote, we decided to designate the room to a purpose to keep that from happening again. It's gonna be my library room. I've started moving books in already. It's lovely. Finally they will be all in one place!
Ciao
