MOAR YARNZ

i have been remiss. I have more yarn I bought while I was in Italy and haven't shown it to you yet. Here is the next lot of interesting yarn:

Virginia
It is very thick ribbon yarn with a 'traintrack' along one edge. I'm not even sure how to knit this, it was just interesting. I think you knit it through the traintrack part.
Here's a better picture of the yarn:

I'm thinking this may become a poncho or similar.

Knitting and Yarn!

Still knitting here. This is for the Giftmas box:
towelagain

Another cotton dishtowel. Just plain stockinette with a garter edge.

And now for another taste of Italian yarn!

Nevada
This yarn is microfibre. It is sooooooo soft! And nubbly, as you may guess from looking at it. I was thinking maybe a slouchy hat and an infinity scarf.

New Yarn!

Before I went to Italy, I went to a yarn store that shall remain nameless. They did not have what I wanted. They tried to sell me something else. Were quite pushy about it, actually. I tried to escape gracefuly by saying, "Well, I'm going to Italy in a week, I'll see if I can find it there and if not, I'll be back..." The woman looked down her nose at me and said "It is getting VERY difficult to find GOOD yarn stores in Italy, you know." Uh huh.

I'll spread the funky yarns over a few posts so you don't get bored, folks.

First up, Louisiana from Lana Gatto:

Louisiana

This is VERY thick yarn:

Louisianaclose

Basically roving in a net tube. I got 2 skeins of it and am thinking an infinity type scarf for it. The yarnshop lady said that most people work it with their hands, they don't bother with a knitting needle. I can see why!

Stash Enhancement

Got some soft, squishable pretties in the mail today and I had to share!

It's from Dizzy Blonde studios and is beautiful stuff! I got one for me and one for the hubby. No bet on which is for who.

More Good Mail

And I got another nifty package!

From the Loopy Ewe. She included a couple of little extras.

The cards are for keeping track of which needles (circular, straight and dpn) that you have. The little card with yarn are samples. Of Regia silk and Regia bamboo.

But the reason I ordered from them? This:

Lorna's laces Amy Friendly yarn. Isn't it yummy? The link to the Loopy Ewe up there takes you to the page for this fabulous yarn. The colours are stunning. What should I make with this gorgeous stuff? Suggestions?

At Last! Pictures and Yarn Pron.

I have finally managed to get it together enough to take pictures. Not fabulous pictures, but I'm not a professional photographer, so it will have to do!

First up, Campanula sock:

Hmm, that's quite a hole at the heel/foot join. I sense some duplicate stitch in my future....

Next up, the current pattern candidate for my silk Rumple yarn.

Sorry about the shadows, this was the best I could do after several attempts. It's definitely open enough for the nubbly texture of the yarn. Maybe too open? I'm debating going down a needle size. It's currently drying from it's mini-blocking. I'll see what it feels like and looks like when it's dry.

In other very nifty news, I won a little yarn. If you haven't been to Mobtown Reviews, get yourself over there on Wednesdays. The link will go up in my sidebar when Blogger decides to let me do it....At any rate, the site reviews a new and upcoming fibre artist every week. And then they hold a draw from the comments for the reviewed treat! Last week, I won. I got myself a super soft and squooshy absolutely lovely skein of sock yarn from Oceanwind Knits. It is absolutely scrumptious. the colourway is "Elderberry". Lori shipped it out superfast. My big problem now, is deciding what sock to use it on. Lately I seem to be having pattern decision making issues.....

The other cool thing about Oceanwind Knits is that it is Canadian. Canada has so many wondeful fibre artist. Yet often they get lost in the shuffle somehow.

Oops! The yarn must be lovely. Raven is going ofter it! And so far he has only gone after my expensive stuff. Gotta go save the yarn.

Baking Yarn...

Today I got some yummy sock yarn. I ordered it from Pick Up Sticks on Wednesday and it arrived today! Yay!

It's 50%wool, 20% mohair,20% silk and 10% nylon. I have already done this:

On my "nostepinne".Yup, I used a wooden spatula to "bake" my "yarn cake"!

And now to add some other ingredients: pattern, dpn's, stitch marker....
