Sigh

Remember the Wing It cardi I was knitting? The one with no real pattern other than some measurements I made on a colleague's sweater? Yeah, this one:

Well, both I and the knitting inspector you can see there decided it wasn't going to work. Not in this incarnation anyway. I frogged it.

I might try this again later. For now, the yarn will be a different cardi. I was thinking Rill

MOAR RAIN!

It's been raining so much around here, even Basement Cat is giving it the evil eye. From under an umbrella of course. Wouldn't want the fur to get mussed.

Steps

Most of us have probably heard that we should take around 10,000 steps in one day to be healthy. My job is standing and walking for 7+ hours at a go. I figured I was probably pretty close to 10,000 steps in a day.

My workplace is having a 'competition'. The idea is to form teams, and then the team that walks the most wins bragging rights. They got us all pedometers from the local health unit and away we went. We just did the first week. Turns out an average day at work is around 4000 steps. That 's not even half of the healthy number! I was shocked. Even more shocking is that on a day when I don't leave the house, I only do around 1000 steps!

Here I figured I was doing not too bad. Turns out I was waaaaay bad.

I've now gone to Map My Walk, figured out a route that should get me close to 10,000 if not a smidge more. Hopefully the weather cooperates tomorrow and I'll try it out.

One More Try

I cast on for the Spindrift Scarf with the lovely Handmaiden Rumple yarn. And used way too many 'power words'. Of the kind one would NOT say around young children. Not that I have any....But I digress. The lovely silk yarn is boucle-ish. Nubbly. And has a tendency, on 3.5mm needles, to get caught ont he neighbouring stitch. So you knit what you think is ONE stitch, but is, in actuality, TWO. Does not make for peaceful or fun knitting. Riiiiiiiiip.

I cast on again with Lorna's Laces Pearly yarn in the Amy's Office colourway. The colourway in the bottom right of that picture on the link. Boyohboy this is lovely yarn. It is a joy to knit with. Much less stressful. (Not that the Rumple yarn isn't nice, just not for this pattern)

This is more like it!

As a sidenote...want to win some Wollmeise? Go to Alabama Fiber dreams and you just might. If you follow instructions....

Knitting Trial

I bought Lucy Neatby's Spindrift Scarf pattern at the Toronto knitter's Frolic in May. I decided to try out the pattern on some non-expensive yarn before I pick up my Handmaiden Rumple yarn. It's rather neat and quite easy to do.

I just might cast on today!

AAAARGH!

Below, you will see my latest project. A cardigan I am doing off the top of my head. The eagle-eyed among you will see a stitch holder....holding a single, dropped stitch. It is NOT supposed to be dropped. Naturally, this happened during a garter stitch section. So grabbing a crochet hook and 'laddering up' is going to be a bit more of a pain. Figures.

If you see a madwoman running about holding a crochet hook and a bit of black yarn screaming incoherently, please treat her gently. It might be me!
